The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) released Publication 89 in 2002 as an update to Publication 23, released in 1975, which updated the values for males at different age groups and included data for females and children of various ages.

An adult "Reference Man" now stands at 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 161 pounds. An adult "Reference Woman" stands 5 feet 4 inches and weighs 132 pounds.
